Tips for organizing your AV equipment and Entertainment System

You just moved into a new home or condo (or maybe you’ve been here a while). The living room is unpacked. The new decor is together, and now it's time to enjoy some home relaxation.

BUT, you notice one or all three of these things...

  • Messy Wiring
  • Exposed TV and AV Wires
  • A Basket Full Of Remotes

Before we give you the DIY solution, know that you can always call Entertainment Pros,727-804-2277, and skip the DIY for a do-it-for-you professional solution.

But if you want a little DIY torture. Here’s what you need to know.

Messy Wiring and How to Clean It Up -
First, buy a good tracer. Trace and tag your wires, so you know what goes where. Make sure to tag your equipment as well—unplug untangle, and re-assemble. Zip tie your wire bundles together so they don’t tangle again. And ALWAYS leave some slack in the tie. If you tighten the zip tie too tightly, you won't be able to spin your equipment around to make changes.

Exposed TV and AV Wires -
First, you need an outlet behind your TV. We highly recommend you hire a licensed electrician to install that outlet to protect your equipment and keep your property up to code. Next, you are going to pull your low voltage cable through your floors or attic by drilling holes above and below avoiding existing electrical wiring, plumbing, wall studs, and firebraces. Don’t forget to leave some wire slack for serviceability, but not too much. You don’t want a mess of wires behind your TV. Reconnect your equipment and test.

A Basket Full of Remotes -
Buying a universal remote is the easiest solution. Finding the right remote that will sync with all your equipment is the most time-consuming task. Because there are so many brands and so much gear, you need to make sure your remote is compatible with everything.
