AV Installation Skills Repurposed for What? Mounting a Hunting Trophy.
Clients Are Like Family, Even With Unusual Requests
I know it’s cliché to say our clients are like family, but when they come to us with projects which usually fall into the "friend zone," it’s clear we’ve crossed into something more personal. I love people can call for custom installs — no matter how wild the idea may be.
So, when a client / friend asked me to help mount a hunting trophy, we weren’t talking about your average deer head. This was a 7x7-point elk trophy — an absolute beast which probably weighed over a thousand pounds in its prime. The head itself wasn’t too heavy, but getting it into place was going to be a serious challenge. Why? He wanted it mounted in a staircase.
The Challenge: Maneuvering a Massive Elk Trophy
Where do you go when you have an idea like this? You call Entertainment Pros.
The staircase was too tight to turn the trophy and carry it up the regular way. We couldn’t just march it up step-by-step. Instead, we had to get creative: think up, over chandeliers, and reposition on the fly. We leaned over railings, dodged light fixtures, and worked some tough angles. Precision and patience were key.
The Result: A Trophy Worth the Effort
After some strategic sweating, teamwork, and careful maneuvering, the elk finally took its place of honor. The result? An amazing trophy piece which leaves a lasting impression while also providing a unique install story.
It’s not every day AV skills come into play for projects like this, but the principles are the same: custom solutions, attention to detail, and the ability to think outside the box.
